Jonathan Rhys WTF?

I just spent about ten minutes putting together a post about a CNN.com news story about the Showtime series "The Tudors" that falsly captioned a photo of Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the actor who plays Henry VIII, as John Rhys-Davies of "Indiana Jones" fame.

Since I noticed the mistake yesterday, it has been corrected.

I'm sorry I spent the time dealing with formatting issues, but ultimately, for the sake of accuracy, I'm content.

Library Search

A slip of my hand when searching the Akron Public Library for the discontinued sitcom "Arrested Development" produced some amusing alternatives.

I Wasn't Supposed To Take Pictures, But No One Really Minded

Liz, Drew, and Laura visited Colin and me from Chicago. We celebrated Easter with an enormous, collaborative breakfast and a trip to the Akron Art Museum (which is actually quite affordable - $5 for students).

Chai Oatmeal

According to Mama, this is amazing. I post this for the sake of my own memory as much as for anyone who might stumble across it.

1-1/5 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground coriander
1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
Pinch of saffron
Drop of vanilla extract
2 tsp. honey
3/4 c. rolled oats
2 tbsp. oat bran
Minced pistachios
Yogurt

1. Pour milk into a medium-sized saucepan. Add salt, cinnamon, coriander, turmeric and saffron and whisk to blend. Place pan over medium heat.
2. Just before milk comes to a boil, lower heat and let mixture simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla and honey and whisk until honey dissolves.
3. Sprinkle in oats and oat bran and stir once or twice. Cover pan and leave over low heat for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Nobody's Here, Nobody Hears

Last Wednesday, I hit the town with a new eye and a new camera.

I found that few things had changed. Wokki, my former favorite Chinese take-out restaurant, is closed and being replaced by something called "Little Brother's."

The building next to my former apartment was gone altogether. Our building has been bought, too, and is probably scheduled for demolition to make room for parking.

My picture won't upload; maybe I'll try again later.

Locked Out

I am locked out of Ryan and Laura's apartment, with no phone to boot. I am looking about the window of Starbucks, watching for Ryan.

Wait, there he is!

Starbucks

Ryan and I spent our morning slash afternoony thing at Starbucks. We ate breakfast and I salivated while I watched Ryan eat an english muffin with egg, sausage, and cheddar cheese. I ate egg salad.

We tossed ideas back and forth for his screenplay, and I challenged myself to write a bit. I wrote a vignette about a group of mothers and infants sitting next to us, and feel a sense of "enormous well-being."

I also have "Park Life" stuck in my head, clearly.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Chicago Bagel Authority!

My veggie pizza bagel was green today in honor of the holiday. Usually I don't get excited about St. Patrick's Day, but this was pretty cute slash disgusting.

Calzones

With no intruders to attack recently, Colin wielded his knife against a calzone I made the other night.

Bordeaux

This evening I received an e-mail from Maryann De Julio, one of the French department heads at KSU. She told me that I've been accepted into KSU's year-long study abroad program in Bordeaux, France, where I will study for the entirety of the 2008/2009 school year.

This is very good news.

Oh, and Colin was accepted too. So that's perfect.

What's That Place Called?

This morning, Colin was telling me a story about an amazing band that he had seen at, of all places, the DePaul student center. As we were listening to their hardly amateur CD, which he had purchased at their performance at a Katrina benefit, he reminded me of the even more amazing guitarist from this band, who I had met at an open mic at...

"What was that place called? You know, he was friends with... From DMAC... Who knew Melissa's... Luke. God, what WAS that place called?"

We wracked our brains for a good couple of minutes.

"Something and... something. Didn't it have an 'and' in the middle?"

We couldn't remember. We entrusted the answer to good ol' Google.

"Look on street view!"

After zooming in several times, we could see that the name of the coffee/ice cream shop at Lincoln and Sheffield was Savor the Flavor.

Fuck. We forgot the name of Savor the Flavor. Clearly, we need some Chicago.

Food Fight

This is rather witty. Ian, eat your heart out (every pun intended).

I Have A New Computer

It's a black MacBook. It's pretty.

Colin says that now I can vlog easily. Hmm.
